You dont have to be a super-salesperson or hope the economy gets better to really make a difference in the way revenue is generated.
What you have to do is understand how to bring value to the people you serve, how to partner with them and make it easy for them to buy, and to make it a win-win for both sides of the table.
You have to start with a revenue strategy and an infrastructure to support it, because if you dont know where you are going, your customers wont know where you are going. And if Im your customer, I want to know exactly what I can expect from you.
As a customer, I dont want to know about your mission or your vision. I want to know what you can do to solve my problem better than anyone else.
You are going to have to be a lot better in 2011 than you had to be in 2007.
